Maternal age, perhaps the greatest factor, is something that you can’t really overcome. When you’re born you have a certain amount of eggs in your ovaries. After puberty you begin ovulating every month and egg reserve declines over time. The fertility rates start declining by age 32 and become more significant after 38. Above the age of 46, success rates with any fertility treatment decline to single digits.
Alternative options such as using donated eggs almost always results in high success rates regardless of reproductive age. Such rates are almost above 50% per embryo transfer and in some circumstances may be up to 80% per cycle.

IMPROVED SUCCESS USING DONOR EGGS OR SPERM
Of course, if you’re concerned about your age preventing your successful IVF, there is always an opportunity for you to use donor eggs, or sperm, to help you improve your odds. This is called third party reproduction, a term which also includes using a surrogate. However, here we will discuss the success rates as they pertain to donor egg and sperm.
The success rates for donor eggs are far above the rates for regular IVF. This is due, in large part, to the quality of the eggs. Donor eggs are typically harvested from young women, who are not dealing with fertility issues themselves. Other risks associated with age, such as chromosomal abnormalities, and increased risk of miscarriage, are usually not an issue when donor eggs are used.
The success rate for IVF when using donor sperm, due to the absence of a partner, or a partner’s low sperm count, is also much higher.
