How To Use Ovulation Test Kits to Detect Fertility

huangyan      Apr 17, 2023

Ovulation is a very important process in the reproduction cycle of a woman. It ensures a woman is fertile and capable of bearing a child. During ovulation, the matured egg is discharged from the ovary and travels to the fallopian tube and stays alive for 12 - 24 hours. The fertilisation must take place during this time.

This ovulation time is crucial for couples trying to beget offspring. So, how does one get to find out the ovulation time? For this, you can use a reliable ovulation test kit. Want to know what an ovulation test kit does? An ovulation test kit will make sure you find out if you are ovulating or not.

How does an Ovulation Test Kit Work?

Luteinizing hormone, the hormone secreted by the anterior pituitary gland, induces ovulation in women. In other words, women can ovulate only when this hormone is released. This hormone is secreted in urine which is picked by ovulation test kit. These kits work exactly like pregnancy test kits.

You should know that the normal menstruating cycle is twenty-eight days. This means the ovulation is likely to happen around the 14th day. However, the ovulation day will vary depending on the cycle length of each woman. You can begin the test on the fertile days. On these days, test the urine once a day. On getting a positive ovulation test, have sexual intercourse with your partner either on that day or the next day. On being discharged, the egg will have to be fertilized within 12 - 24 hours.

Ovulation Kit Uses
An ovulation test kit is used to know the exact dates of ovulation. It is like a pregnancy test kit and is easy to use. The predictability of an ovulation test kit can be 97 percent accurate. Also, ovulation test kits are available easily in the market. Another important factor is that you can also get to know if you are not ovulating! Yes, know that the ovulation kit result can be accurate.

When to Use an Ovulation Test Kit?
You should know that the normal menstruating cycle is twenty-eight days and ovulation is likely to happen around the 14th day. However, the ovulation day will vary depending on the cycle length of each woman. You can begin the test from day 12 of a 28 day cycle. On these days, test the urine once a day. On getting a positive ovulation test, have sexual intercourse with your partner either on that day or the next day. On being discharged, the egg will have to be fertilized within 12 - 24 hours. Also, during ovulation, women will have symptoms such as a slight rise in the body temperature and vaginal discharge. When you have these symptoms, make sure to check with an ovulation test kit.

How to Test the Ovulation Kit?
Begin the testing two to three days before the expected date of ovulation. For this, you will need to follow a similar procedure as done during the pregnancy test. A single blue line indicates no ovulation on the cards, but when you see a double blue line, it means ovulation is possible within 2 to 3 days. There are digital kits with high accuracy.

Not getting results with Ovulation Test Kit – Know Why
It is not possible to get accurate results consistently. There can be false negatives and false positives. In such cases, it is pertinent to contact your doctor to know what can be done and the further course of treatment to gain fertility.

How to use an Ovulation Kit as a Pregnancy Test?
Technically, you can use the ovulation kit as a pregnancy test but be aware that the results may not be accurate. When pregnant, the human chorionic gonadotropin hormone (hCG) levels in your urine will be very high. The level of this hormone can be detected with the help of a pregnancy test kit. However, an ovulation test kit may not be able to detect the hCG levels. This is a major reason why you should not rely on the results of the ovulation test kit to test your pregnancy.

There are several types of ovulation test kits available in the market. You can either use an app or a kit to check out for results. Remember to have intercourse when you are ovulating, as this is the most fertile period for every woman out there. If you want to conceive as soon as possible, make sure to use both the app and the kit, as they can fetch you quicker results.
