Does Vitamin B12 Affect Fertility?

Fertility problems are a common issue in men and women these days. Deficiency of Vitamin B12 can affect the fertility of both and affect the reproductive systems of either in a similar manner.  
 
If a person's body lacks B12, it might have serious consequences on the person's health. Issues like weakness, memory loss, infertility, anaemia, neurological or psychiatric problems are due to that lack of Vitamin B12 affecting both men and women.
 
Vitamin B12
Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin which enables the proper functioning of the brain and nervous system. This is the largest vitamin B and is crucial for metabolizing the body cells.
 
It also plays an important role in a person's genetic components like the DNA and RNA of the egg and the sperm.
 
Vitamin B12 Deficiency in Men
Vitamin B12 helps generate and mature the sperms.
Men suffering from fertility issues need to consume foods rich in Vitamin B12.
Causes Of Deficiency Of Vitamin B12 in Men
Premature ejaculation
Low motility of sperm
DNA damage in sperm cells
Low sperm count
Loss of libido
 
Vitamin B12 Deficiency In Women
If a woman gets pregnant although she has a vitaminB12 deficiency, the pregnancy at a higher risk of resulting in the loss of the foetus.
 
The lack of B12 seems to interfere with the reproduction & adds to:
 
Impaired development of the egg
Abnormal ovulation
Difficulty in implantation the fertilized ovum in the uttering lining
Disruption in normal cell division
Once this vitamin is included in the everyday diet this should turn back to being normal

Supplements for Vitamin B12
There are two forms of Vitamin B12 that are in an active state in the body, these are;
 
Methylcobalamin (Safest to consume)
Adenosylcobalamin
These are easily available at drug stores. Although, if one considers consuming them, following the dosage according to the doctor's recommendation is most favourable. Vitamin B12 helps in conceiving babies and keeping them strong in the mother's womb. Hence it is of great worth.
