Male infertility is quite common these days. As a matter of fact, infertility is a health problem faced by around 10-15% of couples worldwide. Oligospermia is a fertility condition among men which occurs due to a low sperm count. According to WHO if the sperm count in the semen is of a concentration less than 15 Million per millilitres, a person falls under the bracket of this issue.

A few men can show no symptoms of oligospermia most of them get to know about that once they realize that conception is not possible for them. However, there are some common warning signs of oligospermia which include:

Thick discharge
Swollen and Enlarged vein in the scrotum
Sexual functioning issues like the inability to maintain an erection or other ejaculatory issues
Some also face pain while urinating
Pain, swelling or lumps in the testicle areas
Decreased facial and body hair or other signs indicating hormonal imbalances
Diagnosis of oligospermia
Oligospermia can be diagnosed by a simple semen analysis which examines the sperm count, motility, abnormal & normal morphology of the sperm as well as its quality.‍

Causes of Oligospermia
Medications:
Beta-blockers, antibiotics, blood pressure medicines might cause ejaculation defects along with low sperm count

Environmental Factors:

Metal exposure :
Heavy metals exposure such as lead also cause oligospermia

Overheating testicles:
Increase in the temperature around the testicles affects sperm production and quality. Continuous placing of laptops over your genitals or sitting all the time, hot water tubs and wearing tight clothing may all contribute to overheating

Lifestyle Factors:
Alcohol, smoking, obesity, etc are some widespread Oligospermia causes.

Drugs use:
Steroid medicines that are used to stimulate muscle strength and growth can shrink the testicles affecting sperm production.

‍Other causes of this condition could be:
Consumption of Alcohol:
Smoking
Weight problems
Stress
